The 2015 Rexton has received aesthetic upgrades to the exterior and interiors with more equipment on offer, while the powertrain remains the same as the outgoing model.

Updates include new grille, alloys & updated headlight with LED DRLs & HID projectors

Bringing updates for model year 2015, SsangYong has launched a refreshed version of the Rexton SUV in its home market South Korea with a slew of cosmetic changes to the exteriors and feature upgrades inside the cabin. Exterior updates on the 2015 Rexton include a new Lincoln-like front chrome grille with vertical slats coupled with a redesigned logo cluster. You also get new alloy wheels as well as tweaked headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights and HID projector lamps as standard. The side and rear profile however continue with the existing styling with no changes to sport.

On the inside, the 2015 SsangYong Rexton continues with the existing layout but gets a new and trendier multi-function steering wheel, heated seats, LED cabin lamps and a revised centre console. The vehicle continues to be well equipped with rain sensing wipers, cruise control, smart entry key, navigation, audio system with Bluetooth connectivity as well as safety systems like Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ABS, ESP and much more being offered.

In terms of powertrain, the 2015 Rexton gets no changes to the existing engine lineup comprising of the 2.0-litre diesel, 2.7-litre diesel (sold in India) as well as a 3.2-litre petrol unit. Transmission choices on the other hand include the 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic that sends power to all four wheels via a permanent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) or part time AWD set-up. While the updated version will be extended to other markets as well later this year, Mahindra has not announced its plans to bring the Rexton facelift to India as of now but it will be launched later this year.

Competing against the best selling Toyota Fortuner in the segment, the updates on the 2015 SsangYong Rexton might just help the SUV improve its numbers on the sales chart. Mahindra sold 1200 units of the Rexton in India last year, while the Fortuner in comparison did a hefty 16,990 units during the same period. Apart from the Rexton facelift, SsangYong also launched the Tivoli compact SUV in South Korea earlier this week that is set to be a volume puller for the automaker with the company aiming to sell over 1 lakh units in the first year itself.
