Maruti Suzuki will launch the 2015 Swift DZire facelift in March. The vehicle gets few cosmetic updates and additional features now.

The Maruti Swift DZire is the leader of the compact sedan segment despite the fact that it offers much less than what the competition offers. The DZire is a very basic sedan that comes with just the necessary features that would be needed in a car today. Maruti has always been successful with the DZire which is the second highest selling car in India but with rising competition, the automaker surely had to upgrade the vehicle to give it an edge. The Tata Zest was launched at an attractive price tag last year and it comes with many more features compared to the DZire. Even the Hyundai Xcent is great value while the Honda Amaze is also present to rival the DZire.

Maruti launched the updated Swift in 2014 and we knew that the DZire would follow soon. The new DZire has been caught completely off guard and we must congratulate Maruti designers for giving a bad looking car a much more uglier look. What surprises us is how manufacturers copy each others’ design elements these days. The 2015 DZire comes with a new chrome grille that seems to be lifted straight from the 2007 Honda Civic or the recent Mobilio. The front also gets new headlights and fog lamp housings. Just like the Swift, the new DZire too gets chrome add-ons near the fog lamps and these chrome bits work as pseudo DRLs. The sedan also gets new 10-spoke alloy wheels.

The rear of the new DZire won’t see any changes. The interiors will be updated with features like keyless start-stop function, keyless entry, automatic climate control, new audio system with Bluetooth, new MID and 60:40 split rear seats. The 2015 Maruti DZire will make use of the existing engines itself which have been retuned to generate better fuel efficiency. The 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine gives out 20.4 km/l while the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine gives out 25.2 km/l. The Maruti Swift DZire is priced between Rs. 4.85-7.32 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the new model will see a hike of Rs. 10,000-30,000/- depending on the variant. The 2015 Maruti Swift DZire will be launched in March.
