Mercedes-Benz India has imported the 2015 B-Class 200 CDI in the country for homologation purposes ahead of its official launch later this year. Part of the premium compact MFA family, the B-Class is currently Mercedes’ most affordable offering in the country and the facelifted version will be adding some spice to the otherwise bland design that everyone has been criticizing about. The automaker will also start assembling the model in the country from this year onwards that will bring the prices down over the outgoing version.

Compared to the current model, the 2015 Mercedes B-Class facelift gets a more aggressive front fascia featuring a sporty bumper with wide air intakes, larger grille and redesigned headlight cluster with optional LEDs. The new model also gets several additional features including Keyless-Go system, ambient lighting and new multimedia 8-inch touchscreen system added to the premium MPV. Mercedes is likely to offer the new variants Style, Urban and AMG line trims introduced internationally on the Indian version as well.

Power will continue to come from the 1.6-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel 4-cylinder engine options under the hood. The fuel efficiency figures could see a marginal improvement though. Mercedes-Benz has promised to launch 15 new models this year which include the C-Class diesel sedan, updated E400 Cabriolet facelift, locally assembled A-Class, CLA sedan, S-Class Maybach as well as the all-new AMG GT among a host of other luxury and performance friendly models. The German auto giant has invested a total of Rs. 150 crores at its Chakan facility taking its installed capacity to 20,000 units per year and the same will be utilised to assemble the MFA family of cars.
