The Sway Concept gives a glimpse at the design of future generation Nissan hatchbacks

Giving a glimpse of its future styling, Nissan will be unveiling the Sway Concept at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show scheduled to start on 3rd March 2015. As Nissan puts it, the Sway Concept is a glimpse at how a future generation of small Nissan models could look if the company’s striking new design language was applied to a European hatchback. In essence, the concept will be previewing the next generation Micra hatchback for the European market that will go on sale in 2016.

The Sway concept boasts of some very impressive styling cues that are quintessentially Nissan as seen in this teaser image. The U-shaped grille sits boldly in front with sharp and menacing boomerang shaped LED DRLs. You can also see accentuated wheel arches at the sides and a receding shoulder line that gives a brawny appearance to the concept. While the current generation Micra has been a styling dud, it seems that the next generation model will compensate for it handsomely.

Nissan also stated that the same approach was taken for the Qashqai and Juke SUVs with an innovative design and product planning and will also be seen on the company’s future range of small models. The 2016 Micra is likely to be based on the new CMF platform and will be produced at Renault’s Flins facility in France. The next generation Indian Micra though will continue to use the existing V-platform and will be designed to meet Indian customer preferences, the company had stated earlier.
