The Pulsar 200 SS has been delayed for a long time for no big reason

We all have been waiting for it and it is just around the corner, the Pulsar 200 SS. I know most of you will be saying in your mind “another day, another Pulsar 200 SS post, yawn” and that’s true to quite an extent, this bike has been delayed time and again for no big reason at all. What we understand though, it’s really the timing of things as Bajaj Auto likes to launch products at certain times of the year. Anyways, the delay isn’t the customer’s loss, it is Bajaj’s loss, the company declined both in 2-wheeler market share and the stock market.

Coming to the Pulsar 200 SS itself, we confirmed earlier this month that the launch is set for the second half of March and now Bajaj dealers have started accepting bookings for the full-faired motorcycle. The booking amount is Rs. 10,000/- and deliveries will commence from next month. Demand for the 200 SS will be very high and the company will price it at Rs. 1.35 lakhs (on-road) for the ABS equipped model. The 200 SS will be offered in two variants – standard and ABS, with four colours on offer – black, red, blue and yellow.

The Pulsar 200 SS draws power from a 199.5cc, single-cylinder engine which employs 3-valves and is fuel-injected. It outputs 23.7 PS of power and 18.3 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. There are several changes to the SS over the NS but both bikes have a lot in common when it comes to parts and mechanicals. Once launched the 200 SS will be the cheapest full faired bike in India but that honour won’t last long as next month, Suzuki will also put on sale its flagship Indian bike, the Gixxer SF.
