Expanding its manufacturing footprint in India, Hero MotoCorp will be opening a new manufacturing plant in the country and has been allotted a land of 592 acres in the Chittoor district by the Andhra Pradesh government. Located in the Satyavedu Mandal’s Madannapalem village, the land is part of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and the new facility will be established for manufacturing two-wheelers and spare parts attracting an investment of Rs. 1600/- crores.

This is Hero MotoCorp’s fifth facility in the country with the other located at Daruhera and Gurgaon (Haryana); Haridwar (Uttarakhand) and Neemrana (Rajasthan). The new plant will provide direct and indirect employment to around 15,000 persons and will be a major boon for the vicinity and the state. While it is unclear as to which models will be produced at the new plant, we expect an official announcement from the manufacturer very soon that will answer all queries including the timeline for commencing operations, annual production capacity and the models that will be made.

Hero MotoCorp is aggressive about its global operations and has been making sure to expand its production base not only in India but globally as well. At present, the company has been expanding its base in Latin America and will also extend its presence in more established markets like Europe and the US in the following years. For the current year, Hero will be introducing several new motorcycles and scooters in the country including refreshed versions of existing models and also the much-awaited HX250R 250cc sports bike that is set for launch around the festive season.
