The 2017 KTM Duke 390 could be unveiled at the EICMA Show in Italy next year

What can we say about the KTM Duke 390 that has already not been said before. Redefining affordable performance motorcycling in India, the Duke 390 offers outright power at a stellar price tag something that has been extended to its track inclined fully faired sibling, the RC 390 as well. With the current generation model a massive success, the Austrian manufacturer has commenced working on the next generation Duke 390 that will be making its debut in 2017 and the company has imported the model in India for R&D purposes.

According to the import data, the 2017 KTM Duke 390 has been brought into the country. The current generation model uses a 373.2cc engine that is tuned to produce 43 HP of power and 35 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The next generation model could see a slight increase in power output with added levels of refinement. In addition, earlier test mules spotted in Europe also suggest that the next generation Duke 390 could get a newly designed subframe, revised tail section, as well as a side-mounted exhaust replacing the underbelly unit.

Just like the current generation model, the new KTM Duke 390 will continue to get slipper clutch as standard along with a host of other bells and whistles (maybe Bosch MSC as well) to keep the model sedated at all times. A sportier exhaust note will certainly be appreciated. Talking about the unveil, as the norm goes with KTM, we can expect the next generation Duke 390 to make its debut at the EICMA show in the last quarter of 2016; whereas the Indian launch can be expected by early or mid-2017. KTM will also update the Duke 125 and 200 around the same time with a bunch of similar upgrades.
