The new Tata Nano GenX will get a revised front fascia for a fresh and premium new look while the boot-lid has been equipped with hydraulic mounts for easier access.
As per these leaked studio shots emerged on the internet, the new Tata Nano GenX equipped with an AMT unit and a functional boot-lid is all set for launch and will hit the market next month. First showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo as the Nano Twist Active Concept, the Nano GenX version gets a redesigned front and rear fascia with the infinity grille and integrated fog lamps for a new appeal while also receiving major upgrades in the form of an openable boot-lid lending better access to the rear.
The 2015 Nano GenX is powered by the same 624cc three-cylinder petrol engine with 38 PS of power and 51 Nm of torque, and will now be paired with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) unit or ‘Easy Shift’ in Tata speak. The AMT unit is essentially the same one seen on the Zest Diesel AMT and will also come with a Sports mode that will allow each gear to redline if necessary. In addition, the Nano GenX is now equipped with two hydraulic mounts to open the boot-lid providing a much convenient access to the boot space with the boot capacity standing at 110-litres.
The mounts, however, have added to the overall weight of the new Tata Nano GenX which is now said to return an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 21.9 km/l (outgoing version returns 25.4 km/l). Nonetheless, the GenX will come with a larger 24-litre fuel tank instead of the standard 15-litres, offering a better range. In terms of aesthetics, the new Nano also gets smoked headlamps, piano black finish on the front hood, while changes on the inside are expected to be minimal.
Tata Motors will be offering the Nano GenX in XE, XM and XT variants with the AMT Easy Shift likely to be available in the top-end XM and XT variants only. The automaker will be offering the hatchback with the new Sangria Red colour (pictured), apart from Pearl White, Meteor Silver, Damson Purple, Royal Gold, Dazzle Blue and Persian Rose. Tata has also commenced promotional activities for the new Nano GenX on its website with full-fledged promotions to commence very soon.
