The BMW-TVS K03 is likely to make its debut later this year and will be 100% engineered by the German automaker while power will come from a single-cylinder motor.

The K03 will be a street-fighter powered by a 300cc motor, rivaling the KTM Duke 390

The BMW-TVS quarter-litre project (codenamed K03) is a long discussed offering that will be unveiled by the end of this year. The German-Indo partnership will see BMW Motorrad invest 100 percent of its engineering prowess in developing the bike, while TVS Motor Company will bring in its cost effective manufacturing capabilities that will help price the model more competitively. With the development phase moving closer towards the end result, the automaker has exported five more units of the K03 to Germany earlier this month for further testing (TVS had exported 12 units last month).

Spotted on several occasions in Europe, there are limited but important details about the K03 that we know about. The quarter-litre motorcycle is based on a completely new platform and will be a street-fighter offering, which puts it against the KTM Duke 390, Hyosung GD250N and the likes in the segment. The new platform though will also spawn more products in the future which could include super sport and adventure body styles. Secondly, the automaker has confirmed that the bike will get a single-cylinder engine under the belly, which will most likely be a 300cc unit. Power figures are unknown at present.

Expected to carry the performance characteristics seen on bigger BMW Motorrad bikes, the BMW-TVS K03 will be exported to several developed markets and will give the German auto giant access to the volume friendly quarter-litre space in emerging markets. This will also be the Chennai based manufacturer’s flagship offering. With the unveil coming closer with every passing week, we certainly can’t wait to get our hands on this one.
