Hyundai has silently deleted some features from its hot-selling premium hatchback, the Elite i20, while keeping prices intact.

Hyundai Elite i20 vs Hyundai i20 Active
Only the Elite i20 gets these changes, the i20 Active remains unchanged

The Hyundai Elite i20 is one the best-sellers in the premium hatchback segment. The vehicle excels in providing style, comfort, performance and of course a long list of features. However, Hyundai has now cut down certain features from the vehicle while keeping prices intact. Is this cost-cutting being done to avoid increasing the price of the vehicle? Of course, it is not a Honda Jazz reaction. First and foremost, all the variants on the vehicle get new seat upholstery now. The hatchback also loses out on the ticket holder in all the trims.

Apart from the above changes, the passenger side vanity mirror has now been deleted from the Era variant. The Magna trim has no other changes. The Sportz variant loses out on a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, boot lamp and auto-up function for the driver’s side window. Also, this variant used to come with two folding keys but now it gets only one. The seats on the Sportz variant will now be the same as the Magna trim. The seats get a semi-cloth fabric instead of the earlier full-cloth material. The Sportz (O) trim also misses out on the leather steering wheel and gear knob.

The Asta variant used to come with two 12V power outlets but now it gets only one. These are the only changes that have been made on the Hyundai Elite i20 with effect from 1st April 2015. Prices for all the variants are still the same and the mechanicals are also unchanged. The vehicle continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre oil-burner. Hyundai will soon launch a mildly updated version of the i20 where it is expected to come with a couple of new features like a touch-screen audio system. The Hyundai i20 Active does not get any changes.
