Volkswagen is giving a mild update to the Polo with the addition of a few features that will up the vehicle’s appeal.

2015 Volkswagen Polo GT TDI Review
The updated Polo will carry forward the same exteriors as well as engine options

The Volkswagen Polo is one premium hatchback that offers a lot. Build quality, driving pleasure, looks, comfort, the Polo excels at almost everything. However, being completely unbiased, there is no denying to the fact that the German car misses out on a lot of features that are offered by its immediate Korean rival, the Hyundai Elite i20. With Maruti having updated the Swift a few months back and Honda having launched the new Jazz just recently, we were quite expecting Volkswagen to launch an updated version of the Polo.

The new Volkswagen Polo will get a few new features like electrically-folding mirrors, cooled glovebox and a cruise control system. These are the same features that were also introduced on the facelifted Vento that was launched a couple of months back itself. The exteriors of the Polo will not get any changes and the mechanicals will also remain unchanged. The premium hatchback is powered by two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is offered on the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims and it produces 74 BHP of power and 115 Nm of torque.

The other petrol engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit offered on the GT TSI, matched to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. This motor churns out 103 BHP of power and 175 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit that gives out 89 BHP of power and 230 Nm of torque in the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims while the same oil-burner produces 103 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque in the GT TDI . Prices of the updated Polo will increase by Rs. 5000-15,000/- depending on the variant.
