Bajaj has been like a god to biking enthusiasts. The company launched the Pulsar range of bikes which has been immensely popular till date. They also came up with a cruiser bike in 2005 dubbed the Avenger. Over the years, the bike got two engine updates and minor styling changes. Now the Indian bike maker is ready to unveil three new variants of the Avenger which get multiple design changes and the 200cc engine borrowed from the Pulsar range.

While the overall design philosophy of the Avenger remains the same as the old bike, it gets enough changes to make it look fresher. It draws design inspiration from more expensive cruiser bikes from Harley-Davidson stable especially the Street 750. Not only do the alloys and some minor elements on the Avenger resemble the American cruiser, even the name is very similar since it will be called the Street 200. The recently spotted bike features a blacked out theme which can be specific to one variant.

The exhaust design on the new Avenger has changed and so have some other elements like the indicators which now get the more contemporary clear covers. The backrest for the passenger seems to be missing on the variant which was spotted but it will be added to one of the variants to add to the comfort levels. The seat and the tank design remains similar to the older bike. The design can at best be called an evolution of the current one and isn’t radically different.

The biggest change is the new engine which has been borrowed from the newer Pulsars. The 200cc engine produces 23 BHP of power at 9500 RPM and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 RPM. It is paired to a 6-speed transmission unit which would further enhance the cruising capabilities of the bike. There is a chance of Bajaj tuning the engine slightly differently for the Avenger series considering its target audience and intended usage. The wait isn’t too long now since Bajaj will be launching the bikes this week.
