Toyota has recently launched a commercial for the 2016 Fortuner in the Australian market, showcasing the all-new design, while also stating it as an SUV built and bred for adventure.

Toyota was tight lipped about their second generation Fortuner which was officially unveiled in August 2015. The SUV has now been imported to India and is currently undergoing testing. The design of the vehicle is completely fresh, making the model look leaner and sleeker than its predecessor. The car gets much more appealing wrap-around headlamps, along with a V shaped grille containing lots of chrome bits, even the fog lamps and chin of the front bumper comes with dashes of chrome.

The 2016 version of the Fortuner is based on Toyota’s Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform which also underpins the Innova MPV and Hilux pick-up truck. The side profile is where the Fortuner reveals a bit more muscle of the car with large wheel arches and turn indicators on the ORVMs. Toyota says that with the new design changes on the SUV, they have also gone with a large number of changes on the interiors as well, making it more plush and roomy.

Toyota has also added two brand new engine options on the Fortuner. The SUV now comes with a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel motor and a 2.8-litre mill producing 148 BHP and 175 BHP respectively which will replace the current 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre powerplants. The Fortuner can be expected with a price range between Rs. 25 to 28 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Toyota has launched the Fortuner in Australia, the car is promoted as a complete off-roader having 4WD and 2WD options. The SUV also has a massive 280 mm ground clearance, which can be varied according to the necessity. Australia gets three variants of the Fortuner – GX, GXL and Crusader. The Japanese automaker is marketing the car as a complete adventure and off-road based car for more sales. The vehicle is priced at around AUD 47,990 (Rs. 22.73 lakhs).
