Royal Enfield has just entered the Thailand market at the Thailand Motor Expo and the company will set up exclusive dealerships in the country to retail its single-cylinder bikes.

Thailand International Motor Expo 2015 had quite a lot of surprises, the Redditch originated, Chennai based manufacturer’s foray into the Thai market was one among them. You guessed it right, it’s Royal Enfield. As part of their plan to be the global market leader in the mid-size (250-750cc) segment, the company announced their entry and future plans for the Thailand market at the motor show.

Royal Enfield displayed their leisure motorcycling range, which includes the retro-street Classic 500 and Classic Chrome models, the iconic Bullet 500 and their recent take on café racing, the Continental GT 535. The display also included their latest collection of gear and accessories. Royal Enfield has partnered with General Auto Supply (GA) for their Thai market offerings, the latter helping them to open up exclusive dealership, service and aftermarket capabilities.

Being the oldest motorcycle brand with a quintessential British heritage, purists from the Thai market are going to be spoilt with choices. However, competition is intense in Thailand as far as motorcycles go and there are quite a few established players, with many brands (including Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda and Ducati) making the country as their production hub.

The flagship company of Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield has been on a global expansion spree, selling more than 3,00,000 motorcycles globally in 2014, generating a revenue of $1.4 billion with 50% growth every year for the last 3 years. The British brand’s next launch will be the Himalayan which will come in two versions, one an off-road variant while the other will be an adventure tourer.
