The new TVS Apache reportedly sports an all-new engine with the spy shots revealing a new crankcase while the there are two variants with different handlebars being tested.
TVS seems to be in no mood of breaking any details to Apache fans as the new flagship motorcycle continues to do its extensive test runs in India and overseas. This time, the 2016 Apache RTR 200 was caught testing in Indonesia where the camouflaged test mule was snapped in great detail revealing a host of new factors. One of the more interesting theories is that the new BMW G310R and the flagship Apache could be cousins sporting the same tubular frame underneath.
Over the outgoing version, the 2016 TVS Apache 200 is a completely new model as seen in the spy shots. The automaker has been testing two versions of the model, one sporting a conventional single-piece handlebar while the other gets dedicated clip-ons. It is not clear though if TVS is contemplating on introducing different variants or is just testing to see which works better. Further, the test bike gets a completely new engine with an all-new crankcase that will likely be an oil-cooled, SOHC unit with 4-valves.
The new TVS Apache RTR 200 will also come with wavy disc brakes at the front and rear coupled with a double-piston calliper at the front and a single piston rear unit. Suspension duties will be performed by telescopic front forks and a new monoshock setup at the rear. You can also see a protective engine cowl, split seats, tapered headlamp cluster, octagonal twin-exhaust can and an LED tail lamp. The previous spy shots have already revealed the informative digital console.
The TVS Apache 200 test mule was running on IRC sourced tyres with the rear likely to get a 130 section unit. However, the tyre manufacturer could differ depending on the market and cannot be confirmed at this point. Clearly, the Hosur giant is going all sporty with the newest Apache that is only expected to take the brand further in the affordable performance segment. With competition getting better, the company will also offer a significant price advantage that will set you back by around Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
