Indian automaker Mahindra’s newest offering, the S101 has been caught without much camouflage at Bandra and it was undergoing an ad shoot.
The Mahindra S101 is going to be quite an interesting vehicle. First up, the hatchback has created a lot of buzz and anxious buyers are waiting for more details about the vehicle and its possible launch date. Second, it’s a Mahindra hatchback! We all are curious to find out how a hatchback that comes from a manufacturer of SUVs, trucks and tractors fares. A recent report suggests that the S101 was caught without disguise in Bandra and it was undergoing an advertisement shoot.
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is going to be the brand ambassador for this car and there was also a dog sitting in the front passenger seat. The rear was completely undisguised and we can clearly see that the rear portion of the vehicle has a very smart design that looks youthful. The vehicle seems to have a spoiler and roof rails too. Its handles on the rear door have a similar placement as that of the Chevrolet Beat.
It is also said that the vehicle’s front fascia will have a design similar to that of the Range Rover Evoque. The headlights will have a sleek and a sharp design. The S101 will get a SUV-like profile and this will help it stand out amongst its rivals. The interiors will have a nice layout with a 3-spoke steering wheel and also bench seats at the front. There will also be an infotainment system with an LCD screen.
On the mechanical front, the S101 will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, diesel engine. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT gearbox will be offered with the diesel engine with ECO mode too. The S101 or XUV100 will be launched in India by the third week of January 2016 and it will be priced very competitively with the range starting from under Rs. 4 lakhs (ex-showroom). The vehicle will compete with the Maruti Wagon R and Tata Zica.
