The 2016 Ford Endeavour will be offered in two diesel engine and transmission options along with the new Terrain Management System for better off-roading ability.

Ford India has had a positive year with the much awaited Figo Aspire and new generation Figo hatchback garnering rave reviews and the automaker is now all set to introduce the new generation Endeavour next year reportedly scheduled for launch on 19th January. Available in a total of 6 variants, the all-new Endeavour is available in two engine and transmission options. Taking a giant leap over the outgoing version, all specifications and variants of the India-spec model have now been listed by the company on its website.

Based on the T6 platform, the 2016 Ford Endeavour looks edgier despite retaining boxy design language. The styling is modern and certainly one of the best in the segment sporting the trapezoidal grille, beefed up front hood and a strong shoulder line that extends up to the rear. Interestingly, the equipment list is pretty standard across all trims, save for the 4×4 variants that get a few additional features like the Terrain Management System.

All variants of the 2016 Ford Endeavour get standard safety features including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, TCS, Hill Launch Assist, Emergency Assistance, seatbelt pre-tensioner, Ford MyKey and engine immobiliser. The Hill Descent Control is specific to the 4×4 versions whereas the side and curtain airbags are available on the 2.2 and 3.2 AT Titanium trims. The driver side knee airbag is only available on the range-topping 3.2 AT 4×4 Titanium variant.

Inside the cabin, the 2016 Ford Endeavour gets standard features including 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, dual zone auto climate control, rain sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment screen with SYNC system with voice control; 10 speakers, Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity.

The top Titanium trim adds ambient lighting and scuff plates with graphics, driver and passenger side one-touch with anti-pinch power windows, auto headlamps with HID, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), heated side mirror, panoramic sunroof, power folding third-row seat, semi-auto parallel park assist, side mirror with puddle lamp; front parking sensors and Volumetric Burglar Alarm.

Ford’s new Terrain Management System allows the driver to configure the car for different surfaces including mud, grass, gravel, snow and sand. Engine options include a 2.2-litre diesel that is tuned for 160 PS of power at 3200 RPM and 385 Nm of torque available between 1600-2500 RPM while the 3.2-litre oil burner produces 200 PS at 3000 RPM and 470 Nm of torque between 1750-2000 RPM.

Transmission options comprise of a 6-speed automatic on both engines while a 6-speed manual is offered on the 2.2-litre version. The SUV comes in both 4×2 and 4×4 versions with the fuel efficiency rated at an ARAI certified 14.12 km/l on the 4×2 MT trim. Prices are expected to be around Rs. 25 lakhs for the new Endeavour that will be imported via the CKD route in India.
