2016 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross Facelift Caught Testing, Gets Exterior Updates

The 2016 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross will get revised front and rear fascia while there is a possibility of a new 1.4-litre turbocharged engine going under the hood of the crossover.

The SX4 S-Cross facelift is expected to hit the European market in 2016

If you easily mistook this for a BMW X1, it isn’t your fault, these are the first images of the 2016 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross facelift that has been caught testing somewhere in Europe and the Japanese automaker has consciously given the test mule a BMW-like appearance in a bid to confuse viewers. However, the silhouette is a major give away on the crossover and the semi-camouflage ensures the changes are easily visible. As seen here, a revised front grille, redesigned headlights and a new front bumper will be part of the updates on the facelifted model.

While the side profile looks largely the same, updates at the rear will include a revised tail light cluster and tweaks to the bumper and tailgate. Inside the cabin, the 2016 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross facelift remains untouched with the only change being the new touchscreen infotainment system which looks identical to the one found on the new Vitara SUV. Under the hood, the 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines will continue to power the S-Cross facelift and currently belt out 120 HP of power, while torque output varies from 156 Nm on the petrol to 320 Nm on the diesel. Reports suggest that there will be a new 1.4-litre turbocharged engine joining the lineup in the future.

It is certain that these upgrades won’t be making it to India for the next couple of years; however, it is unclear if Maruti Suzuki will continue to keep the styling different for the Indian market on the future versions as well. The S-Cross for the domestic market gets a chrome induced front fascia in a bid to appeal to Indian buyers, while there is also a smaller 1.3-litre diesel engine under the hood exclusive to our market. More details on the 2016 SX4 S-Cross facelift are expected to unfold in the following months and the vehicle will continue to be produced at Suzuki’s facility in Hungary.
