The Hyundai Tucson is loaded with a host of features and will be showcased at the Auto Expo with the official launch expected later in 2016.
With the 2016 Auto Expo just weeks away, auto manufacturers are gearing up to put their best foot forward for the event which will see a host of new concepts and products on display. Hyundai India too is preparing to show some very interesting models and news now comes in that one of its exhibits will be the new generation Tucson SUV that was launched internationally last year. First introduced in India way back in 2005, the Tucson nameplate will be making a comeback to rival soft-roaders in the Rs. 15-25 lakh space.
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson will be competing with the Mahindra XUV500, Honda CR-V, Renault Koleos, Skoda Yeti and the likes in the segment and is positioned below the Santa Fe premium SUV in the automaker’s lineup. The SUV was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show last year and carries the new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy featured via the contemporary new hexagonal grille, sweptback headlamps with LED DRLs and a receding side profile that integrates with the wraparound LED tail lights.
The new Hyundai Tucson is loaded on features like most models from the automaker and comes with a plethora of electronic aids including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Smart Parking Assist system, electric tailgate, blind spot assist, autonomous braking, lane keeping system and a whole lot more. Internationally, the model is offered with two diesel engines including a 1.7-litre mill producing 114 BHP while the 2.0-litre motor churns out 182 BHP of power. Transmission options include a 6-speed automatic and manual.
It is believed that Hyundai will only showcase the 2016 Tucson at the Auto Expo while the launch will follow later in the year. Going by previous reports, the company is expected to import the model as a CBU which will keep prices a tad bit premium, expected in the range of Rs. 18-23 lakhs, positioning it between Hyundai’s entry-level Creta and the flagship Santa Fe SUVs.
