Maruti Suzuki makes a good move towards the safety aspect of the Maruti Alto by providing driver airbag as option across all the variants.

Maruti Alto Review
The Alto now gets driver airbag across all variants as option

The Maruti Alto has always been criticised for the lack of safety features in the entry-level car. Specially nowadays when the Indian audience is getting more and more aware of road safety, the lack of equipment affects some of the buyers. However, the largest carmaker in India has now announced the availability of driver side airbag as an option across all the variants of the Maruti Alto 800 and Alto K10. Furthermore, the left outside rear view mirror is also available across all variants of the Alto as standard.

Previously, only the range topping variants of the Maruti Alto had the option of an airbag and no left outside rear view mirror, which is a big safety hazard. This update makes the Alto more desirable and at the end of the day the buyer has a choice. Now even with the optional airbag, the variant to variant price difference is very marginal, which is about Rs. 6000-10,000/-. This makes it an affordable package for buyers seeking safety at the same time. However, you don’t get ABS with the Alto, not even as an option.

Recently Maruti also introduced dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard across all the variants of the S-Cross and Baleno that are sold through their premium network of NEXA dealerships. The Indo-Japanese carmaker also introduced dual airbags and ABS with EBD as an option across all the variants of Ciaz, Eritga, DZire, WagonR and Celerio. The fact that the automaker is also providing safety features on their entry level cars such as the Alto 800 and Alto K10 is worth appreciating.

The Maruti Alto is currently the best selling car in India and has retained the position for 10 years in a row. Thanks to its affordable, practical and fuel efficient package, first time buyers mostly prefer this hatch having immense trust in the Maruti brand for easy maintenance and hassle free after sales service. Over 29 lakh units of the Alto have been sold since its launch in the country and the sales further continue to grow strong.
