The Honda Amaze sub 4-metre compact sedan gets its first facelift since its launch in 2013 but the car remains unchanged mechanically.

The Honda Amaze has found place in many hearts and garages due to its peppy and frugal engines as well as the prestige factor which comes with the coveted Honda badge. However, lately the sales of the Amaze have gone down due to the rise of competition in the sub 4-metre sedan space, such as the Ford Figo Aspire and Tata Zest, and also because of the popularity of premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, which offer more features and look immensely more beautiful. Thus to counter these newfound threats, Honda has decided to give the Amaze a mid-life facelift.

The facelifted Honda Amaze is going to launch on 4th March and the car has even started reaching dealership yards across the country. The car gets a re-worked front bumper with black inserts and new fog-lamp housings. The face of the car also gets a big chunk of chrome, just like its big sister the Honda City. The car remains mechanically similar to the current Amaze.

The interiors of the Amaze are often marked-out as its Achilles heel. The car has been criticised in past for its basic interior design and average quality which is considered a notch below of what the competition offers. To fix that, last year Honda added a touch screen infotainment unit with navigation and power folding wing mirrors to the car’s feature list but that didn’t help shoot up the sales to a great extent.

The Honda Amaze was launched in 2013 with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 87 BHP of power at 6000 RPM and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel churning out 99 BHP at 3600 RPM. The car received a positive response from enthusiasts and average customers alike due to its free-revving engine and spacious interiors but it also drew heavy criticism largely because of its  uninspiring interior design and missing features such as automatic climate control and a cooled glove box.
