If one sees the G500 in the rear view mirror, he would move out of the way immediately

Two years ago, Mercedes Benz took the world by storm and opened everyone’s jaws with the G63 AMG 6×6 which was based on a project for the Australian special forces. It seemed to be working fine in the deserts of the Middle East, but it took quite some skill to move around this behemoth vehicle inside cities which led to to the development of the G500 4×4 which has been showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and may be launched in India by the end of 2016.

The Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4 is based on the G63 AMG 6×6 with all the off-roading capabilities of the 6-wheeled sibling. The off-roader is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine that sends 422 BHP of power and 610 Nm of torque to all the four wheels via an automatic transmission. The SUV rides on portal axles which are connected to 22-inch wheels that provide a ground clearance so high that it can be driven in 39 inches of water. The mammoth is expected to be priced around Rs. 4 crores in India when launched here.
