Setting a stiff sales goal for itself, the Japanese automobile giant Suzuki is aiming high with a annual sales target of 1 million two-wheelers in India by 2020.

Under its new mid-term management plan and marketing strategies, Suzuki is aiming high for its annual sales in India. According to a Suzuki high official, India is one of the largest and growing market for the two-wheeler segment and the company is trying to expand its business in the country. Suzuki’s prime focus will be on premium scooters and motorcycles to tackle the growing competition in the market.

Suzuki has recently launched its new version of the Access 125. This premium scooter is Suzuki’s present contender in the 125cc scooter segment in India. Priced at Rs. 53,887/- (ex-showroom, Delhi), this new version of the Access 125 has been updated with easy-start system along with optional front disc brake and alloy wheels. The Access 125 was launched in 2007 and had a successful sales figures of over 2 million units total so far. Suzuki is expecting to sell around 2 lakh units annually of the new updated version of the Access 125.

In the near future, the company is also planning to launch new models in the 125cc and 150cc segments to develop its market in both bike and scooter category. Moreover, the company may also consider to step in the 200-250cc segment if the demand raises in the Indian market. Having its production facility at Gurgaon with a capacity of 5.4 lakh units per year, Suzuki may look forward to expand its current production figures to meet its annual sales target of 1 million.

On the other hand, Suzuki has launched various marketing strategies to lure the Indian two-wheeler buyer. The company plans to hit its targets by introducing sales fest and various attractive cashback offers. Given the new launches and marketing policies, the target of annual sales of 1 million could still be a tough job for Suzuki.
