Legendary American automobile major General Motors is having a less than legendary period in the country right now. All the cars made by the company form the backmarkers in their respective segments and the customers also continue to give them a miss due to a very poor sales and service reputation. Thus GM has been trying very hard to rejuvenate its product lines and has been giving its cars a little nip’n’tuck lately, the latest being the TrailBlazer SUV, which has now been imported in India for homologation purposes.

Import data has shown that a single unit of the 2016 Chevrolet TrailBlazer SUV, which has been facelifted recently in the international markets, has been brought in the country from Thailand. The particular unit is the top-end LTZ variant with a 2.8-litre diesel engine mated to an automatic gearbox while sending power to just the rear wheels. The facelifted TrailBlazer was revealed to the world last month only and is expected to start selling in India by the end of this year or early 2017.

The new TrailBlazer has been given an upmarket front-end which is similar to the Chevrolet Colorado light truck sold in the American market. The rest of the overall profile of vehicle remains the same, with only the tail light cluster witnessing some changes.

The interiors of the car though have been given a considerable do-over with redesigned interior trim and an all-new dashboard. The material quality has also been improved along with the additions of lightly updated instrument cluster, silver accents around the central HVAC vents, and an 8-inch MyLink infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The facelifted Chevrolet TrailBlazer continue to feature the 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engine, which is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox in the India-spec model, churning out 200 BHP and 500 Nm of peak torque. When introduced in India, the TrailBlazer will compete with the Ford Endeavor, the Toyota Fortuner and the Hyundai Santa Fe. The car is currently sold as a CBU in the country
