Jeep has revealed much awaited specification and variant details for its Grand Cherokee which is expected to be launched in India soon. The Grand Cherokee will be sold in a total of three variants, with two different engine options.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been one of the most awaited cars in the Indian market. The Jeep brand essentially signifies everything our market likes. Loud brash SUVs with enough bling to shame even Bappi Lahiri. But the SUVs are not exactly just show horses, they are well known for their off-roading capabilities. Thus, when Jeep revealed its entry into the Indian market, it caused quite a stir. The company will be launching its Grand Cherokee in India, and has recently revealed its variants for our market.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee for India will be available in three variants; the Limited, the Summit and the SRT. We all know what the SRT stands for, so let’s talk about the Limited and the Summit. The Limited and the Summit variants are offered with a 3.0-litre V6 EcoDiesel engine which puts out 240 HP of power and 570 Nm of torque. The SRT meanwhile, will be offered with a 6.4-litre classic American Hemi V8 which will put down 469 HP of power and 630 Nm of road warping torque. All variants will get an 8-speed auto box with an AWD system. The SRT will also get beefier suspension with active damping and Brembo high performance brakes.

Now for the bling, features like leather upholstery, climate control, electrically adjustable front seats, heated front seats, Jeeps proprietary UConnect software are offered across all variants. Safety equipment like 10 airbags, ESP, limited slip-differential, hill assist, hill descent control and active headrests are offered as standard. In addition to all this, the Summit and SRT variants also get goodies like a 19-speaker Harman Kardon system, an 8.4-inch touch-screen infotainment system with GPS navigation and rear seat screens. All variants however, are sold as 5-seater models.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee will come to India via the CBU route and will cost around Rs. 60-85 lakhs (ex-showroom), competing with the established German models. Jeep will also provide a 2-year unlimited kilometre warranty for the Grand Cherokee. The SUV is expected to be launched around the festive season.
