The TVS Akula and its street-fighter sibling from Germany have been in the news almost every other day. The much awaited bikes are still not confirmed for launch yet but enthusiasts can’t wait. The BMW G310R, the first and currently the only single-cylinder bike from BMW, isn’t set for an India launch this year but TVS will bring in the Akula 310 before the Bimmer and the motorcycle has been spotted on test for the very first time.

The TVS Akula 310, which is likely to be called the Apache 300, was seen with heavy camouflage in the outskirts of Bangalore in Karnataka. The Hosur based automaker is readying the motorcycle for a launch later this year. First showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and teased just recently on World Shark Day, the TVS Akula 310 was designed by engineers with the wildest of fantasies but none of that will make it to production.

Sharing platform with the BMW G310R, the TVS Akula 310 will use the same underpinnings and will draw power from the 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which generates 34 BHP and 28 Nm in the Bavarian motorbike. Set to rival the KTM RC 390, Yamaha R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300, the Apache 300 will be priced under Rs. 2 lakhs.

The new flagship TVS will also sport many firsts for the brand like full-fairing, liquid-cooling and of course a sub 10 second timing for the 0-100 km/hr sprint, thereby becoming the fastest TVS bike on offer.
