Mercedes is no stranger to the petrol engines as it is in their genes and to have the same in India is a good move

Mercedes-Benz has planned to update all its models with petrol engines by the end of September this year in order to tackle the diesel engine ban in the Delhi/NCR region. Mercedes is optimistic that a solution pertaining to the ban would soon be found as it has been the key market for them in India. The company recently launched the SLC AMG 43 priced at Rs. 77.5 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

Mercedes stated that it was a decision which had been made last year and this will, according to them, give their customers a choice. A key personnel from Mercedes stated that petrol engines were the only option that they had 10 years ago and that its not something that’s new to them or a new segment altogether. Mercedes along with Jaguar Land Rover are the ones to have bore the brunt of the diesel ban the most in the Delhi/NCR region as both Audi and BMW have sub 2.0-litre diesel engines.

Speaking of petrol engines, the Mercedes SLC AMG 43 sports a 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine which can zoom from 0 to 100 km/hr in 4.7 seconds. Mercedes is confident that their new launch will be a success story. Mercedes top officials believe that they have a strategic focus on the AMG brand in India. With the AMG brand, they are confident to follow their approach of delivering the best and that they take pride in their widest range of performance vehicles.

There is no doubt that the folks at Mercedes have been doing well and that the emphasis on their performance division will only make things better for them. They are on top of their game and making the right moves and the emphasis on AMG division being one of them. We, at MotorBeam are glad that they are bringing petrol engines across all their models although we condone the NGT ban on 2.0-litre plus diesel engines.
