BMW G310 GS is expected to make its way to India sometime soon, and will be placed in an uncharted Premium Adventure segment. It will be a dual-purpose avatar of the soon-to-be released G310 R.

BMW was one of the foremost runners in the European bike market, until KTM took over the reigns. While BMW stayed sluggish in their approach to tackle the Indian market, KTM took giant strides by partnering with Bajaj and bringing in attractive street bike models. Now BMW Motorrad, which enters the Indian market with the G310 R, have sternly decided to subjugate the market by introducing more products from its stable.

BMW G310 GS is one such initiative. It will be a mini GS, aptly quoted because the GS range usually consists of high displacing engines, and the one proposed here is as seen on the G310 R. The BMW G310 GS is expected to be a dual-purpose avatar of the G310 R. The G310 GS gets a nod ahead of others in its segment with the comfort factor associated with it, which also happens to be a requisite for our Indian roads.

It is touted to be a performer both on and off the road, with its specially designed suspension and multi-purpose tyres. The bike is expected to be produced at TVS Motor Company’s Hosur plant, where the G310 R is also manufactured.

Hero ventured into the adventure bike segment with the Impulse and endured a decent amount of success, while Royal Enfield, with its Himalayan took a step too far and failed to impress the masses. The gap in between the two adventure motorcycles, is what BMW is targeting with the G310 GS and will succeed in doing so, if it gets ticked in all the necessary boxes.

BMW is expected to showcase the G310 GS at the Milan Motor Show, following the trend where the G310 R was showcased last year. The dual-purpose bike from BMW could also help TVS Motors correspondingly, given that the homegrown manufacturer hasn’t ventured into the off-road segment.
