Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Volkswagen Tiguan has received positive response by the Indian audience and hence the German carmaker plans to launch it in the Indian market. A single unit of the SUV has been imported recently to India powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine.

The CKD kits of the Volkswagen Tiguan will be assembled in India to make it feasible for this market. We will be getting the Mexican manufactured long wheelbase version of the Tiguan. It is based on the lightweight MQB platform which has helped the car shed around 50 kgs compared to the previous model.

The latest design language makes it look sharp and sleek just like the new generation Passat. The interiors get typical German styling, which is straight and simple. Expect some high-end features such as 3-zone climate control system, electrically adjustable driver seat with memory function, 12-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Powering the new Volkswagen Tiguan will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 148 BHP of power, mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission or 6-speed manual gearbox. We can expect the German automaker to launch a petrol powered Tiguan as well. The Tiguan is scheduled to launch in early 2017 which will compete directly with the upcoming Hyundai Tucson in India.
