Volkswagen is going to launch a new compact SUV in India and it is likely to hit the market in 2018. The compact SUV will be based on the MQB A0 platform which is also going to underpin the next generation Polo hatchback. Officials from the German automaker have stated that they will be localising the upcoming compact SUV in India.

Volkswagen had showcased the T-Cross Breeze concept at the Geneva Motor Show this year and the new SUV will be based on that. The styling of the car will be different compared to the current designs from the automaker. It will also be quite spacious and will be loaded with top-of-the-line features.

The Volkswagen compact SUV will be offered with the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine in a higher state of tune while it will also get the 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine. The vehicle will be competing with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano and it should be priced rather competitively.
