The Renault Kwid AMT price is attractive to lure first time car buyers

The Renault Kwid AMT has been launched in India, priced at Rs. 4.25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes it Rs. 30,000/- more expensive than the manual version. The price is introductory and Renault is expected to increase it early next year. Powered by the 1.0-litre SCe engine, the Renault Kwid automatic is more frugal than its manual counterpart and returns an ARAI certified mileage of 24.04 km/l ((23.01 km/l on the manual).

The Renault Kwid AMT doesn’t get a gear lever, instead it gets a shift control AMT dial with R-N-D modes, one can’t manually shift gears unlike other automatic cars which have a tiptronic function. The gearbox is called Easy-R and will surely attract those who want an easy to drive car in the city. The DOHC engine of the Renault Kwid produces 68 PS and 91 Nm and the AMT option is only available with the 1.0-litre powertain.

The Renault Kwid AMT is loaded with segment unique features like a driver side airbag, 7.0-inch touch-screen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. It boasts of 98% localisation and the vehicle can also be booked on the Renault Kwid app. The French hatchback is available in five colours. The direct rival to the Renault Kwid automatic is the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 AMT.
