The Ignis is targeted towards the millennial population of India

Maruti will be launching the new Ignis on 13th January 2017. The vehicle is targeted towards the younger generation of India, millennials who are born post 1980 since India has the highest youth population. The Ignis will be sold through the NEXA range of dealerships because the company feels that the younger generation aspires for a premium experience.

The Maruti Ignis will be India’s first premium urban compact hatchback. The design has unique proportions and the C-pillar has a distinctive design. The car is designed in such a way that it is compact on the outside and still has enough space inside. The sculpted body comes with flared wheel arches. The hatchback gets 175/65/15 tyres with glossy black alloy wheels. The body also comes with side cladding which adds to the car’s character.

The interior has a very clean layout and the dashboard has a dual tone black and ivory white colour scheme. The centre console gets a cockpit-inspired design. The exterior body colour accents are carried over to the door pads and centre console. The Ignis will also come with an ISOFIX restraint system as standard. The vehicle complies with global safety standards and hence it will come with dual front airbags and ABS as standard fitment. The body of the Ignis is side impact and pedestrian compliant.

Talking about equipment, the Maruti Ignis comes with features like LED DRLs, LED projectors, fog lamps, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc. Maruti will offer a lot of customisation options for customers, something that it is doing with the Vitara Brezza too. Powering the Ignis will be 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines and both of them will be offered with AMT gearbox too. It won’t be getting the mild hybrid SHVS tech.

Maruti will be offering e-bookings for the first time ever, with the Ignis. The bookings will commence on 1st January 2017 and deliveries are likely to commence soon after the official launch. The vehicle can be booked through the company’s official NEXA website.
