It is no secret that Chevrolet India is in dire need of a new car which will bring the masses back into the American automaker’s showrooms. The automaker will be launching the new Beat in early 2017. The vehicle was displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo and it has now been spotted on test in Bangalore.

MotorBeam readers Kiran Deshpande and Sandilya Yeluru have sent us a number of images showing the new Chevrolet Beat roughing it out in chock-a-block Bangalore traffic to test its various components. The fully camouflaged cars hide the changes very effectively, but a few details still sprinkle out from the test mules. Interestingly, the car was not alone and was actually a part of an armada of Chevrolet vehicles consisting of another camouflaged Beat, a current generation Beat and a TrailBlazer SUV – all having Maharashtra plates and ‘On Test’ stickers.

One can even make out the new front air dam and headlamps design. Keen eyed viewers can also spot the updated chrome-lined instrument binnacle which is different from the current motorcycle-inspired design. The car sported the same seven-spoke alloy wheels pattern from the current car, an extra-long antenna and flap-type door handles. It has already been revealed by Chevrolet that the new car is not a generation jump from the current vehicle but an extensive facelift, as the car continues to be based on the current Beat’s M300 platform to help cut development costs.

One should note that the Chevrolet beat has been on sale in India since 2009. The new Beat is expected to be kitted with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a part-digital analogue instrument cluster, a 7-inch touchscreen MyLink infotainment system and a piano-black finish for the centre console. The new Beat will also spawn a sub 4-metre compact sedan called the Essentia, which was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
