2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300 KRT

The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300 is priced at Rs. 3.64 lakhs and gets no changes except BS4 compliance.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is now BS4 compliant but still misses out on ABS

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 seems to have returned to become the Japanese automaker’s entry-level offering for India. With no word on updating the Z250 to meet the upcoming BS4 emission norms and Kawasaki not launching the Z300 in India, the Ninja 300 is the cheapest Kawasaki you can buy in the sub-continent, the 2017 model being priced at Rs. 3.64 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Ninja 300 is by no means cheap and that is sad considering it is now a 6-year motorcycle with no changes whatsoever, except the 2017 model is now BS4 compliant. One of the most important bikes for the H2 maker, the Ninja 300 seems to be forgotten as Kawasaki continues to focus on its Z lineup but the Ninja 300 is due for a massive upgrade this year, with the second generation model being set for unveil at the 2017 Intermot (KTM will unveil the second generation RC 390 at the same time and venue).

When Kawasaki launched the Ninja 300, it was quite a revelation but competition has caught up and surpassed the successor of what was one of the world’s top selling quarter-litre bikes for 20 years in a row (the Ninja 250R). The Ninja 300 continues to draw power from a 296cc, parallel-twin motor that pumps out 39 PS and 27 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It was the first bike in the segment to get a slipper clutch which is now a common affair as bikes like the Dominar 400 too get it. But the Kwacker misses out on ABS which is still not offered.
