2017 Suzuki GSX-R125 Unveiled & We Want One!

The Suzuki GSX-R125 is a mini GSX-R1000 and is claimed to have the best acceleration and mileage in the 125cc beginner class. It won’t be launched in India but gives a glimpse of the upcoming GSX-150R.

As excited as we are but the Suzuki GSX-R125 won’t be launched in India

Suzuki has just unveiled the GSX-R125 and we want one because it looks like a mini GSX-R1000. A 125cc sports bike seems like a stupid idea but aims at the beginner class where riders are restricted to 125cc engine displacement. Powering the Suzuki GSX-R125 is a 124.4cc, 4-valve, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine which the Japanese automaker claims has the best power-to-weight ratio and torque-to-ratio in the 125cc segment.

Suzuki also claims the GSX-R125 has the best acceleration and fuel efficiency figures in its class as it has the lowest weight amongst its rivals. The aerodynamic body does help matters and the motorbike has the smallest frontal area in its segment, helping in a better riding experience. With a seat height of 785 mm, the Suzuki GSX-R125 will suit short riders. The motorcycle gets answer-back function, keyless ignition, Suzuki easy start system, LED headlight, an all digital LCD instrument cluster (lifted from the Indian Gixxer) and ABS (it’s mandatory in Europe).

Suspension duties are taken care by conventional telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock while the brakes are two-piston sliding callipers up front and petal discs at both ends. Tyre size at the front and rear are 90/80/17 and 130/70/17 respectively. The Suzuki GSX-R125 is offered in three colours – white, black and Suzuki racing blue. The Suzuki GSX-R125 competes with a slew of motorcycles including the Yamaha YZF-R125, Aprilia RS 125 and the made in India KTM RC 125.
