The Datsun redi-GO AMT with 1.0-litre petrol engine will be launched in India in the coming few months.

Datsun redi-GO Review
The Datsun redi-GO isn’t selling in high numbers despite being priced attractively

Datsun launched the entry level hatchback redi-GO in the Indian market in 2016. The vehicle shares its platform with the Renault Kwid and it is priced competitively. The redi-GO competes with the Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Tata Nano. The vehicle is being offered with an 800cc engine but Datsun is soon going to launch a more powerful version of the car by June.

The Datsun redi-GO is going to get a 1.0-litre petrol engine by June this year. This engine is the same unit that also powers the Kwid 1.0. Apart from that, the redi-GO is also going to get an AMT gearbox with the bigger engine. Expect Datsun to offer the AMT gearbox and the more powerful engine on the top variant only.

The current 800cc engine produces 54 PS of power and 72 Nm of torque while the 1.0-litre engine produces 62 PS of power and 91 Nm of torque. However, both the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. With the launch of the Terrano facelift and the added variants of the redi-GO, Nissan may get a decent boost in sales.
