Triumph is all set to launch the all-new Street Triple in India by June 2017.

The Triumph Street Triple has been one of the most popular middle-weight bikes in the world

The next generation Triumph Street Triple was recently launched internationally in three states of tunes, using a new higher displacement engine. The Street Triple S, the Triple R and the Triple RS are the 3 models of the Street Triple that were launched. All the variants use the same 765cc triple-cylinder engine, updated from the 675cc unit. The base Street Triple S produces 111 BHP of power whereas the Triple R and the Triple RS produce 116 BHP and 121 BHP respectively.

The 2017 Triumph Street Triple will be launched in India in June, being offered in the S variant initially. The engine used on this bike is sourced from the Daytona 675, but gets almost 80 percent of new internals. The Triple RS gets some sophisticated hardware like 41 mm Showa front forks and Ohlins monoshock suspension at the rear. Brembo brakes with 310 mm discs are used up front and a 220 mm disc is used at the rear.

The 2017 Triumph Street Triple gets ride-by-wire, programable riding modes, traction control, switchable ABS and a full TFT digital instrument console. The Street Triple S does not get all these features as it is the base model in the Triple series. The Street Triple also gets LED headlamps with integrated DRLs.

Being one of the most popular naked bikes in the world, the current generation of the Triumph Street Triple was first introduced way back in 2007. It sold more than 50,000 units worldwide. The bike has been on sale in India since 2013 and it has managed to fetch over 400 units in this time period. The British automaker has been selling the lower tune model in India which had created quite a lot of controversy after power figures were revealed by ARAI.

The 2017 Triumph Street Triple will be priced at a premium over the outgoing model. The current version is priced at Rs. 7.91 lakhs and the new model will be priced upwards of Rs. 9.25 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle is locally assembled via the CKD route. When the 2017 model is launched, it will compete against the Ducati Monster 821 and the upcoming Kawasaki Z900.
