The Yamaha R15 V3 has a VBOX tested top speed of 126.08 km/hr while the speedometer reads 137 km/hr.

Yamaha R15 V3 Launch
The bike can do a higher top speed on a longer road

The Yamaha R15 created quite a revolution when it was first launched in 2008, the Japanese automaker updated it to Version 2.0 in 2011 and in 2017, the Version 3.0 of the popular 150cc sports bike has been launched. A lot to look forward to for Yamaha fans, the R15 V3 gets vast updates but isn’t much quicker than before.

An Indonesian website has tested the top speed of the Yamaha R15 V3 and the bike managed to do 137 km/hr on the speedometer which translates to a VBOX top speed of 126.08 km/hr. While this is among the fastest of 150cc motorcycles, the motorcycle in its latest avatar is expected to cost as much as the Bajaj Dominar 400 in India which offers way more performance for the money.

However, the tachometer still had some revs left and the R15 V3 is expected to reach a true top speed of at least 132 km/hr. The bike weighs 1 kg more than its predecessor at 137 kgs.

The Yamaha R15 V3 is powered by a 155.1cc, SOHC, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor that gets Variable Valve Actuation resulting in improved performance across the powerband. The 4-valve powerplant belts out 19.31 PS of power at 10,000 RPM and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8500 RPM. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox which gets a slipper clutch. The motor gets a higher compression ratio of 11:6.1 (the R15 V2 has a compression ratio of 10.4:1).

Yamaha is expected to launch the R15 V3 in India later this year but the company hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
