Bajaj Auto plans to launch another bike in the performance segment in the coming months.

Dominar 400 Review
Bajaj Auto will launch a new bike that will be slotted in the Dominar’s segment

Bajaj Auto has seen a lot of success with the Dominar 400 which is its flagship bike and the most expensive too. The company wants to keep the momentum going and plans to launch a new motorcycle in the Dominar 400 segment. Although no details have been revealed by Bajaj Auto, their MD Rajiv Bajaj stated that the new bike could be under the Dominar brand, KTM brand or an entirely new brand.

The Pulsar maker believes that a lot of action will happen in the Rs. 1 lah plus segment where the Dominar 400 is positioned. The company also has the Pulsar RS 200 in the same price bracket. Currently ruled by Royal Enfield with its Classic 350 cruiser bike, the Rs. 1-2 lakh segment doesn’t have as many options despite the market size of 65,000 units a month, expected to grow to a million units a year in 2017.

“We would like to introduce more and more products in the Dominar range, in the Rs 1-2 lakh price range. We have some very active plans for this and in the next 2-3 months we should be able to make some important announcement on this,” Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, said.

Bajaj is a master of platform utilisation and could make another version of the Dominar 400, possibly a cafe racer, adventure tourer or even a full-faired bike, the last one being unlikely as the company’s president of motorcycle business had only recently stated that a full-faired Dominar would be “horribly expensive”. With KTM already done with its launches for 2017, we feel the upcoming launch could be either the Pulsar RS 400 or an AS 400!
