The Dominar 400 will sell well in Nepal due to lack of options

The Dominar 400 has been doing very well, in fact so well that Bajaj Auto is already working on another premium motorcycle in the same segment which could be its full-faired version. Or Bajaj Auto could launch a motorcycle based on the KTM Duke 250, using the same engine with hardware tweaks for a more cost effective pricing.

The company has been gradually scaling up production of the Dominar 400 with an aim to manufacture and sell 10,000 units a month by September 2017. This will cater to both the domestic as well as export markets. Bajaj has just commenced exports of the Dominar 400 and has launched the power cruiser in Nepal, priced at NPR 4,69,900/- (Rs. 2.93 lakhs). The Pulsar RS 200 is priced NPR 70,000/- (Rs. 43,705/-) less and was previously the flagship Bajaj motorcycle.

Nepal is the first market outside India to get the Dominar 400 and the company plans to launch it in other countries like UAE, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines later this year. The motorcycle competes with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and 500 in the Indian market and Bajaj states that 20% buyers for the Dominar are existing or ex Royal Enfield owners.
