The entry-level Harley-Davidson Street 750 is a good bike for what it is, but at the same time, it has received a lot of flak for its glaring shortcomings in the Indian version such as the extreme heat problem, wooden brakes, harsh ride etc. Therefore, in face of rising competition from names such as Indian Motorcycles, the American company has been silently consolidating its portfolio and has now launched the new Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750 motorcycle as their new entry-level offering and it is priced at Rs. 5.86 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new Harley-Davidson bike still carries the same 749cc engine from the Street 750, but now sports a higher torque figure of 65 Nm instead of 59 Nm, along with a higher compression ratio of 12:1. It produces 11% more power and 5% more torque than the Street 750. Peak power arrives at 8250 RPM while peak torque comes in at 4000 RPM. The bike is further different from the Street 750 in basics e.g. the Street Rod 750 tips the scales at 229 kgs (dry weight).

The Street Rod comes with 120/70/17 and 160/60/17 MRF radial tyres at the front and rear respectively. Also, the bike is shorter in length by 85 mm, and the wheelbase has been shrunk by 10 mm. The front suspension gets new 43 mm USD forks and dual shocks at the rear, both of which have increased travel.

The baby Harley is also equipped with an array of gizmos such as a 3.5-inch electronic speedometer with high-beam, neutral, low oil pressure, turn signals, engine diagnostics, low fuel warning, blade key ignition and fork lock, and locking gas cap.The 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Rod is available in a choice of 3 colours – Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim and Olive Gold.
