The Yamaha FZ carburetted version has been removed from Yamaha’s line-up of bikes.

2014 Yamaha FZ-16 Ambush Blue
The FZ was launched in the year 2008 as the FZ-16

The Yamaha FZ came in the year 2008 as the FZ-16 with a 153cc carburetted engine that made 13.80 HP of power and 13.60 Nm of torque. The bike was priced aggressively and did well in the market too. The bike offered a comfortable ride, plush ride-quality being Yamaha’s forte.

Yamaha did not give the FZ a BS4 compliant engine thinking that it did not want to invest in the engine it did not want to use. Also a contributing factor for the discontinuation of this model was the age of the bike. The bike was in the market for almost 9 years, and Yamaha saw no more scope for improvements in the bike. In 2014, Yamaha launched the fuel injected version of the bike, but that was completely a different engine, a 149cc fuel injected engine that made lesser power than the carburetted version.

Yamaha though has not made any official announcements in this regard, the official website makes it clear that the bike has been discontinued, as it has been axed from the list of motorcycles. Currently, Yamaha has only the fuel injected versions of the FZ, FZ-S selling in India, apart from their other models.
