Isuzu is going to expand its product line-up in India with the launch of the MU-X which is a replacement for the MU-7. The MU-X shares its underpinnings with the D-Max V-Cross, as well as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The MU-X will be launched here on 11th May 2017, competing against the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the likes.

Isuzu earlier used to produce vehicles at Hindustan Motors’ Chennai plant but since April 2016, the entire production has been shifted to the Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh. The SUV will get heavy localisation which will enable Isuzu to price it aggressively.

The front fascia of the MU-X is shared with the D-Max V-Cross but gets some differences like a new grille and tweaked bumper. The MU-X also comes with a third row of seats and new tail lamps. Isuzu is launching the pre-facelift version of the SUV in India and the updated model is likely to come next year. The MU-X will be powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine.
