The 2017 Maruti Suzuki DZire has been showcased at Delhi, India ahead of its official launch next month.
Maruti has officially revealed the 2017 DZire in India. The compact sedan will enter its third generation and it is currently the second highest selling car in India. The sub 4-metre sedan gets a complete overhaul both on the outside as well as inside. The exteriors are heavily revised and come with completely new styling.
A lot of elements up front have been borrowed from the new Swift but Maruti has done quite a lot of work on the car instead of just sticking an additional boot like before. The new DZire measures 3995 mm in length, 1515 mm in height, and 1735 mm in width while the wheelbase is 2450 mm. Maruti is offering the car in 6 colour options – Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red, Magma Grey, Silky Silver and Arctic White. The ground clearance is 163 mm and the boot capacity is 376-litres.
The sedan is based on the new HEARTACT platform shared with the Baleno and it is light weight and uses high tensile steel. Parts like the steering wheel and dials are borrowed from the new Swift while Maruti has tweaked the design of the centre console to differentiate the DZire from the circular theme of the Swift. The new DZire also gets rear AC vents now.
Other features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX, rear LED lamps, Smartphone Linkage Display Audio System, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. It also gets projector LED headlamps and two-tone alloy wheels.
The same engines from the current DZire have been carried over. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 85 HP of power while the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine is offered in the 75 HP tune. Both the engines are offered with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol variant is lighter by 85 kgs while the diesel variant is lighter by 105 kgs. The SHVS tech isn’t offered yet.
The 2017 Maruti DZire will be offered in 4 trims each for the petrol and diesel engine (LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ & LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+). The AMT gearbox will be offered on all trims except the base L variants.
