Tata Motors is very proud to have received the order for supply of over 3000 units of the Safari Storme 4×4 under the newly formed GS800 (General Service 800) category. The Indian Ministry of Defence had demanded vehicles with three basic criteria – minimum payload of 800 kgs, hard roofs and air-conditioning. The Safari Storme 4×4 has completed a trial duration of 15 months and has been tested in various terrains across India. Being true to its form factor, the Safari Storme 4×4 demonstrated extreme performance in the most demanding conditions and had the ability to cope with any on or off-road terrains.

Talking about the SUV, the Safari Storme was introduced in the year 2012. The Safari Storme available to the Indian Armed Forces and the Safari Storme available to the normal civilians shall be different. The former has been modified with an upgraded drivetrain and suspension, and has also been finished in this military green shade. The alloys come finished in black.

Rest of the mechanicals and the looks remain same. The SUV comes with a 2.2-litre VARICOR 400 oil-burner that makes 156 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The ESOF (Electronic Shift-On-Fly) on the 4×4 variant allows the driver to shift between 4×4 or 4×2 mode on the move.

Since 1958, Tata Motors has been associated with the country’s off-road defence and security forces and has supplied over 1,50,000 vehicles to the Indian Military and Paramilitary Forces so far. Tata Motors not only offers products and services that meet the needs of the domestic markets but also to SAARC, ASEAN, and African regions.
