Shifting its focus from commuter motorcycles to premium motorcycles, Mahindra is going to discontinue the Centuro & Gusto.

Mahindra top official Pawan Goenka has stated that they would be soon moving out from the commuter segment to focus more on premium motorcycles based on the BSA and Jawa brands. Mahindra acquired the BSA and Jawa brands in October last year and will start selling the iconic Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles in India probably by sometime next year.

Mahindra also launched a new website called the ‘Yezdis of India’ which is another positive hint that the Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles will soon hit the Indian roads. The Yezdi always had a special place in its customers’ hearts and even after 20 years of it becoming defunct it still enjoys the same cult following it did back when it used to sell in India.

As part of its strategy, Mahindra 2-wheelers will now discontinue the Centuro and Gusto and focus on selling premium motorcycles in India. Czech motorcycle manufacturer Jawa had launched an all-new Jawa 350 OHC 4-stroke model in Europe with a 350cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 26 HP and 32 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes paired to a 4-speed gearbox. This Jawa 350 OHC is also the first ever Jawa motorcycle to feature an ABS.

Jawa might make an appearance at the 2018 Auto Expo with the 350 OHC and thereafter the model is expected to be launched. When launched, it would be really interesting to see how this Jawa motorcycle will take the fight to close rival Royal Enfield with both of them having a stupendous fan base and cult following.
