Fiat has resumed the production of its hot hatch, the Abarth Punto and has also started shipping it to dealerships. The first batch of 40 cars produced have already been shipped to dealerships.

Production was put on a halt sometime in 2016 due to unsold inventory that the dealerships were carrying and also due to upgradation of assembly line at its factory for the production of the Jeep Compass. Available in two colour options – Pearl White and Hip Hop Black, the Abarth Punto comes powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder T-Jet petrol engine tuned to produce 145 HP of power and 212 Nm of torque.

This force-fed powertrain comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The performance hatchback gets disc brakes on all 4 wheels, ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard equipment. There won’t be any visual changes made to the car but it is rumoured that the Abarth Punto will come equipped with a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with offline maps.

The 2017 make Abarth Punto is now available in showrooms and costs Rs. 9,90,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).
