TVS’ all-new electric scooter, which borrows design elements from the Jupiter, has been spotted in disguised form.

TVS Electric Scooter Spied
The prototype is equipped with alloy wheels, drum brakes and telescopic front forks

After its 1-year stint in the electric scooter market with the Teenz Electric, TVS is back at it again. A prototype of TVS’ new electric scooter has been spied in Bengaluru. The new 2-wheeler, which is identical to the popular TVS Jupiter in size and form, can be seen in a camouflaged state in the pictures. The connected charging wires, possibly plugged into a socket in the apartment, are a clear giveaway of its hybrid nature.

The spied vehicle, judging from the shape of its headlight, blinkers and fender, takes styling cues from the Jupiter. Front telescopic forks and drum-type brakes, over 12-inch alloy wheels, can be seen in the pictures. Based on the full-sized Jupiter, it seems to be benefiting in departments of comfort and space. Possibly equipped with a lithium-ion battery, the new vehicle is expected to have a range of 50 kms on a single charge. Rumours have it that the spied scooter is an early prototype and market launch can be expected around end-2018.

TVS Jupiter, in its petrol guise, is powered by a 109.7cc, air-cooled engine. The gearless scooter puts out a modest 8 PS of power with 8 Nm of torque. Relaunched recently in BS4 avatar at a price of Rs. 49,666/- (ex-showroom, Delhi), the unisex scooter has tasted success like no other TVS product. Credit for its popularity goes to the expansive feature list, neutral pleasing design and TVS’ marketing strategy. Taking Jupiter’s fame to its advantage, TVS seems to be utilising the opportunity to bring in an electric vehicle on the same lines.
