The Virtus sedan will have a longer wheelbase than the Polo

The Volkswagen Polo based sedan, Virtus has been spotted uncamouflaged in Brazil well ahead of its official unveil on 1st September 2017. The Virtus is expected to go on sale in North America in the first quarter of next year.

The Polo based sedan has been spotted in two colours and two trims. The red car with steel wheels and wheel caps seems to be the base or the mid-level variant, while the black car that features 17″ blackened alloy wheels and chrome accents on the bumper and the window frames seems to be the to- end variant.

The 2018 Volkswagen Virtus will underpin the MQB A0 platform like the 6th generation Polo but will have a longer wheelbase with slightly longer rear doors. Styling wise the sedan looks very similar to the Polo especially from the front-end. However, there are subtle changes on the Virtus like the tweaked front bumper.

The interior too is very reminding of the Polo. The dashboard gets a 10.2-inch TFT display in the instrument panel and an optional 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Engine options include a 1.6-litre petrol unit that makes 120 HP and a 1.0-litre TSI petrol mill that makes 128 HP.

Speculated to be positioned below the Jetta, the Virtus will rival the Honda City and Chevrolet Cobalt in Brazil.
