Emflux Model 1 Showcased At 2018 Auto Expo, Looks Spectacular

India’s first electric superbike Emflux Model 1 has successfully made it to the 2018 Auto Expo.

Bangalore-based Emflux Motors made headlines last year when it announced India’s first electric superbike with some amazing specifications unheard of in the electric motorcycle segment. As a package, the Emflux Model 1 felt too good to be true which made the audience doubt the company’s claim of showcasing the final product at the 2018 Auto Expo. However, the startup has proved everyone wrong and came up with the Model 1 at the popular event.

Equipped with a 3-phase AC induction motor fed by a 9.7 kWh battery pack, the Emflux makes use of lightweight glass-fibre body panels to achieve astonishing acceleration and top speed numbers. Developing around 80 HP of power and 84 Nm of torque, the bike can accelerate to 100 km/hr in a mere 3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 200 km/hr. The Model 1 weighs 169 kgs and has a seat height of 810 mm, it gets a single-sided swingarm which is usually only seen on Ducati and MV Agusta motorcycles. The company claims a 200 km range in the city and around 150 kms of highway range at sustained 80 km/hr speed.

What’s equally reassuring is the 5 year/1 lakh kms warranty on offer, which covers the motorcycle as well as the battery. The Model 1 comes with 17-inch alloy wheels with 120-section and 180-section Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres at the front & rear respectively. It features full-LED lighting, 6.8-inch touchscreen instrument console with bluetooth and GPS navigation, parking & walking assist and Emflux App support. A wall charger will take 3 hours to charge up the battery while a WARP charger will be capable of adding 80% juice in just 36 minutes.

The bike sits on a trellis frame and comes with 43 mm USD forks at the front and 46 mm mono shock at the rear. Aided with dual-channel ABS, braking is performed by dual 300 mm front disc brakes and single 220 mm rear disc brake. There are some upgradeable parts on offer such as forged alloy wheels, ultra-light carbon-fibre body panels and Ohlins Race & Track suspension setup. Expected to be priced near the Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom) mark, the electric superbike will be an attractive proposition when launched in the country.
